About

I can still remember my first yoga class back in 1996. I left the class feeling like someone had cast a spell on me! My body felt strong and supple, my mind clear and free from worries; I glided back home knowing that I had discovered something very special! Now, it feels strange when I say my job is a yoga teacher! It really doesn’t feel like a job – it’s my passion, and I’m very lucky that the two intertwine.

Studying yoga took me on an amazing journey of self-discovery, and deep into the philosophical teachings of the ancient yogis. I became very familiar with anatomy and physiology (a great love of mine), and how yoga can influence not only our physical bodies, providing strength, stamina and flexibility, but also how it can affect the mind and emotions.

My extended study and practice of yoga has greatly influenced my life, changing it for the better. I am stronger and fitter now than I was in my twenties, and I have a much greater understanding of what causes stress in my body and mind, and how to deal with it. I am calmer, more easy-going, optimistic and content. I would like to think my approach to life is reflected in my classes. I like to teach all aspects of yoga – mindfulness, breath awareness, meditation, relaxation, as well as asana (the physical side!)

I firmly believe that yoga is for everyone. I am so happy to welcome people from all walks of life, with their own individual body types and fitness levels, and do my best to accommodate them. I like to focus on alignment (meaning that the yoga poses are safe) and self-contemplation. I try to make sure that every student can get the best out each pose – this often means teaching in stages so the students can tailor their practise to suit their body, without feeling inadequate or pushing themselves too far. It’s great when people can leave their insecurities at the door and come into a class knowing that whatever they do is their best on that particular day – there is no competition with anyone else, or with themselves.

"Knowing I have an hour and a half every Wednesday to myself to breathe and focus on being calm is so important and now made even better by you sending us the recordings to repeat through reach week before the next class. It’s really helped me motivate myself to keep going! I feel my practice has improved massively too as I’m definitely doing a lot more yoga with your recordings. Everything feels smoother, so thank you so so much for continuing."
